A beautiful backyard surrounded by mixed woodland was further enhanced by selective cutting of the weakest trees to open up areas for play and relaxation. Much of the soils were wet and thus our plant palette consisted of native and native-adapted shrubs and ground covers tolerant of the conditions. A rustic fire-pit area was laid out on a slight knoll for viewing the surrounding gardens and woods as well as provide for good air circulation. Stepping stones lead from the primary lawn area to the woodland gardens and fire-pit seating area. Installed in phases by Brad Meserve, Distinctive Gardening and Dan Gogan.
