While we wait for the flowers to emerge here in Mount Washington Valley, why not look at trees and take photos of tree trunks? That’s what I did today on a walk around my neighborhood. Even after 20 years of involvement in horticulture and design, I am continually fascinated by trees. I enjoy the variety of forms, the silhouettes, foliage colors and bark textures. Trees just get better with age and it is always a treat to come across an ancient tree in the forest that was saved from the chainsaw or tree harvester. It’s a fun challenge to try to ID a tree just by looking at its bark. Give it a try – these are all native to northern New England.
